Jim moved to Yellowknife in 1990 after completing a Masters in Natural Resources Management degree from the University of Manitoba. Starting in 1991, Jim held positions with the Government of the Northwest Territories working in the fields of climate change and air quality until he retired in the summer of 2016. He enjoys cross-country skiing and canoeing, travelling through the wilderness of the Northwest Territories or staying at his cabin at Reid Lake.
