Young Leaders Summit on Northern Climate Change 2021

Ecology North is excited to host the 2021 Young Leaders’ Summit on Northern Climate Change, bringing young leaders together from across the North to learn about northern climate change. This Summit will take place on August 17th – 21st 2021.
The Summit provides an opportunity for northern youth, aged 18 to 30, to come together and learn about the effects of climate change in northern Canada – a region that is experiencing some of the fastest and most extreme changes. The Young Leaders’ Summit brings youth together in order to connect with other climate leaders and to develop leadership skills to bring back to their communities and to create positive change. Youth attending the Summit learn about the effects of climate change from Elders, researchers, land-users, policy makers, and other climate leaders, as well as learning about some of the steps being taken to mitigate and adapt to these changes.

Dates: 17th – 21st August, 2021
Location: Akaitcho Bay, on the shores of Great Slave Lake, just outside of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.
Eligibility: Anyone between the ages of 18-30, priority on regional representation from throughout the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon.
