What can I do as a Volunteer?
There are many types of jobs to get involved in, from helping out at an event to joining an action committee! Depending on your interest and capacity, you can choose the level of involvement that you want to commit to.

Become a Member
Members are people who support Ecology North simply by paying a due and adding their name to the list. This may not sound like much but it’s actually very important for us. When we apply for contracts and grants it is important for us to demonstrate that we represent the interests of Northerners. Having a large number of members is one way to do this. The more members we have and the more active those members are, the stronger we are as an organization. To become a member, visit our membership registration page, email admin@ecologynorth.ca, or drop by our office at 5016 50th Street.
One-time opportunities
If you are looking for a shorter time commitment, consider signing up for a single event. These events would include smaller tasks that assist our project staff such as: design and/or distribute an event poster, help at a fundraiser, make phone calls, helping with dish service at Folk on the Rocks and the fish fry. coordinate volunteers, assist a set up/take down, send a letter, take photographs, do some research for a particular topic, organize a bird walk, help out at an Earth Week event, organize a movie night, etc. Let us know! Specialized Skill
Do you have a special skill that you would like to put to work for us? Ie- baking, photography, knitting, gardening, carpentry, video, and graphic design? Are you a musician, writer, business owner, lawyer, filmmaker, graphic designer, or accountant who would like to help us out pro bono? Let us know! Email Marie at admin@ecologynorth.ca
Longer-term opportunities
We have volunteer opportunities available that require a longer time commitment and more responsibilty. This could include tasks such as facilitating a workshop, organizing an event or fundraiser, organize a movie night and have a donation jar, getting involved in a project, etc
Action Committee Member
Our action areas have a team or committee of volunteers that meet each month to work on specific environmental issues. If you are passionate about a specific cause, this would be a great way to get involved!

- Healthy Habitat for Hay River

Board of Directors
Ecology North is governed by a group of volunteer Board of Directors. The Board provides high-level guidance for the organization. Board members also often take an active role in organizing, promoting, and staffing Ecology North events. The board meets once every month.
